HERMISTON — Jon L. Sanders died on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 65.

He was born at Kennewick, Washington on Feb. 10, 1941 to William and Freida Sanders.

Jon was a longtime resident of Hermiston the past 30 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction for many years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1959. He loved traveling and deep sea fishing, and working on his 1930 Model A.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sanders of Hermiston; son, Jon A. Sanders of Hermiston; daughter, Tammy Mitchell of Enumclaw, Wash.; sister, Sue Tucker of Sandpoint, Idaho; brothers, Bill Sanders of Milton-Freewater, and Jack Sanders of California; four grandchildren, Misty Reese, Bradley Reese, Joe Sanders, Tyler Ashbeck; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother.

A funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m., at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
