Darian Avila, 23 months, has been released from Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, said a hospital spokesperson.

The toddler was flown to Portland with injuries he suffered in a motor vehicle accident July 8 on Old River Road. A car driven by Ana Avila, 19, was southbound and drifted into the northbound lane, striking a car driven by Michael Navarette, said Lt. Glen Diehl of the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office.

The little boy was seated in a car seat in the back seat and suffered head injuries and facial trauma. Navarette and his passenger, Egar Avila, were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center, treated and released July 9. Ana Avila did not require medical treatment. Witnesses told sheriff's deputies Ana Avila was talking on her cell phone at the time of the accident.
