Erwin Irvin Hood

HERMISTON — Erwin Irvin Hood died Dec. 24, at his home in Hermiston at the age of 76.

Erwin was born in Bristow, Okla., on June 28, 1925, to Grover and Augusta Griffith Hood. He had been a resident of Hermiston since 1989, formerly having lived on Kwajalein Island, which is part of the Marshall Islands, for 22 years. Prior to this, he had lived in Pasco, Wash., and worked as a police officer.

Erwin was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He married his wife, Wanida, on Oct. 11, 1983, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Erwin is survived by his wife, Wanida Hood of Hermiston; three sons, Erwin Hood Jr. of Hermiston, David Hood of Stanfield and Kevin Hood of Kennewick, Wash.; daughter, Kelly Jo Moore of Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Betty Lou Dickerman of Eugene; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 28, at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Disposition was by cremation.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
