In the final tuneup before the IMC season starts the Hermiston varsity golfers traveled to Central Oregon on Friday.

It was a good day with just a little breeze at Eagle Crest at Redmond, a course known for having some tight fairways, especially on the back nine.

It was the first chance for Hermiston golfers to play on the district tournament course.

Hermiston took second, with a score of 320, narrowly beating out Summit with 323. The Dalles, led by a scalding-hot Damian Telles, came in first with a total of 308.

Aaron Puzey was low scorer for Hermiston with a 77, which was good for third place.

"Aaron had a lot of pars on his round." said coach Bill McCloud.

Hermiston will lose Taylor McKenzie for two to three weeks. Taylor, who suffered a broken bone in his hand in December, reinjured his hand while playing the front nine. This forced him to quit the round at the turn to the back nine.

Next up is the first league match with all eight teams of the IMC at the Pendleton Country Club on Friday.
