A Hermiston man was arrested during a traffic stop on various charges including a charge of an ex-convict in possession of a firearm.

Sean Caleb Whitaker, 34, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and unlawful possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school.

Whitaker was driving a 1991 GMC truck in the area of Northeast Aspen Drive and Northeast Fourth Street when the officer made contact with him.

He was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail. In other activity, a woman was arrested on Thursday on various charges, including carrying brass knuckles, interfering with a peace officer and possession of methamphetamine.

Dorry Faye Weiser, 33, was cited for jaywalking on East Elm Avenue.

Weiser was processed and released. Police said Weiser was asked to stop walking three times and did not comply.

An officer stopped her at East Elm Avenue and Northeast Fourth Street, where she discarded a “straw” methamphetamine on the ground near her soda bottle, according to a police report.
