Law enforcement agencies across the state — including the Hermiston Police Department — will be putting extra officers on the street Nov. 24-27 as part of Oregon’s High Visibility Enforcement program.

Thanks to grants for overtime funding, the extra officers will be available to be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers and crash-causing violations.

A press release from the HPD?states: “The Hermiston Police Department will be doing what we can to keep our streets safe during your Thanksgiving celebrations, Black Friday shopping, Parade of Lights and all other activities during this weekend. Please don't drink and drive, as there are easier ways to get face time with your favorite officer.”
