A Hermiston man was rescued from the Columbia River Monday after a wave caused by high winds knocked him off his Jet Ski.

Ron Morton of Hermiston was pulled out of the river around 5:30 p.m. by members of the Umatilla Fire Department, along with the help of Bill Powney and his 24-foot inboard boat.

Morton was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center and was listed in serious condition with hypothermia after spending one hour

and 30 minutes in the middle of the river.
