HERMISTON — The Hermiston Chamber of Commerce put the spotlight on a handful of citizens Thursday, singling them out of their achievements and contributions to their community.

John Spomer was named Man of the Year; Angela Pursel received Woman of the Year honors and Gloria Ego was named Businessperson of the Year.

Spomer received his award for his many volunteer accomplish-ments in the community. The honor was presented to him by his friend, Al Meunier.

“He has continuously worked for the better-ment of our community and has been involved in so many aspects of the commu-nity life,” said Meunier. “He never ceases to contribute to help make this a better place to live and to work.”

A surprised Pursel was honored for her contributions and community involvement. (For the full story please see the January 29, 2002 issue of the Hermiston Herald.)
