The Hermiston City Council will consider establishing a fairgrounds overlay zoning district at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday at 7 p.m.

The zoning district would apply to the site selected for the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center, City Planner Clint Spencer said in a memorandum to the city Wednesday.

Also Monday, a selection committee made up of Mayor Bob Severson and city councilors will interview five people for three spots on the city's planning commission at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall before the regular council meeting.

In other business, the council will:

• Tentatively consider recommendations to No. 7, 8 and 9 on the Planning Commission as well as the Hispanic Advisory Committee.

• Consider an ordinance that would add 1150 W. Poplar Avenue to city limits, under ordinance No. 2183.

• Consider a liquor license for Sergios 2 Mexican Restaurant.

The council meets at City Hall, 180 N.E. Second St.

The meeting is open to the public and there is an opportunity for public comment. The agenda is available online at
