In exchange for city use of soccer fields at Rocky Heights Elementary School, the City of Hermiston will potentially donate $100,000 to the Kennison Field renovation.

The Hermiston City Council on Monday night will consider approval of a 33-year intergovernmental agreement between the city and the Hermiston School District in exchange for a donation of $100,000 to the project.

If approved by the council, the city’s $100,000 contribution plus $80,000 for soccer field “site improvements” would be formally appended to the general fund budget during the mid-year amendment process, according to City Manager Ed Brookshier.

“This would leave us with with an unencumbered general fund of over $4 million,” Brookshier said in a written memorandum.

In other business, the council will:

• Consider approval of ordinance No. 2193 to initiate the annexation of a new territory to the city of Hermiston at 1330 West Highland Avenue.

• Consider approval to recommend Jean Stahlberg to the city’s Parks and Recreation Committee.

The three-year term runs from Nov. 1, 2012 to Oct. 31, 2015.

• Consider approval of Mike Martin to fill a three-year term on the city’s Airport Advisory Committee.

• Consider approval of $2.85 million in expenditures for the month of September.

• Consider approval for the October Airport Advisory Committee minutes.
