The Umatilla County Fair Board has announced that Hermiston Herald graphic designer Marcie Christopher has won the fair theme logo competition.

The contest was open to local newspaper designers, and the winning logo best reflected this year's fair theme, according to Fair Manager Peggy Clough.

This year's theme is "Plant Seeds Today, Harvest Leaders Tomorrow," submitted by Ken Mays and accepted by the fair board earlier this year.

"It was nice that the fair board opened the opportunity to local papers," said Christopher.

"This gave me a chance to do something a little different creatively."

According to Clough, the logo will appear on all fair publications and promotional items.

As the winner Christopher will receive tickets for two to the fair and also reserved seats for her choice of fair entertainment.
