Nina Mae Hargis

March 17, 1922-March 13, 2003

UMATILLA — Nina Mae Hargis died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at her home in Umatilla at the age of 80.

She was born on March 17, 2003, in Roseburg and raised in Portland. Later she moved to Pendleton.

She married P.C. Hargis in Oklahoma. They moved back to Pendleton where she worked as a tax cab dispatcher. They then moved to Milton-Freewater for a short time before settling in Umatilla in 1975. She had worked at the Crossroads Restaurant in Umatilla washing dishes and, later, as a cashier before she retired.

She enjoyed watching TV, doing word searches and playing video games. She loved her dogs, especially Duke.

Nine is survived by her son, Ray E. Thompson of Layton, Utah; stepson, Robert Hargis of Tulsa, Okla.; stepdaughters, Kathryn Cearns of Hermiston and Thelma Boyd of Mineral Wells, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, P.C. Hargis.

A private inurnment will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery. Those that wish may make contributions in Nina's memory to a charity of their choice.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of the arrangements.
