HERMISTON Ray Fortune died Dec. 18, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 91.
Ray was born June 20, 1910, to Samuel and Nora Lee Armstrong Fortune. He attended Fresno High School and Fresno State College. He worked for Lockeed in Burbank, Calif., for 29 years. He worked as an inspector for the P-38, the Constellation and the Electra.
He married Alene Cole Fortune on June 4, 1938, in Caruthers, Calif.
Ray retired in 1975 and traveled with his wife, Alene, to Europe, the Middle East, South America and the Orient.
In 1995, he moved to Hermiston to be near his daughter, Karin. He was formerly of Kauai, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alene, in 1985 and his parents.
Ray is survived by two daughters, Karin Watson of Hermiston and Krystal Oxteik of New Mexico; grandchildren, Jennifer Peterson of Portland, Joanna Wilson of Dixon, Calif., and Torben Fortune of Santa Monica, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Christian Ille and Joshua Wilson of Dixon, Calif.
At his request, no service will be held. Disposition was by cremation. His cremains will be scattered on the reef near the family home in Kauai, Hawaii.
