Hermiston could have a Dutch Bros. coffee drive-through as early as late August or early September.

The stand is slated for a 21,918 square-foot vacant lot across from Les Schwab at the corner of East Jennie Avenue and Highway 395.

When asked recently why he wanted to bring Dutch Bros. to Hermiston over other area towns, Marc Lee said: “It's just an awesome town. It reminds me a lot of Tri-Cities.”

Lee said another draw is high demand for a Dutch Bros. in the area.

Lee first applied for a conditional permit with the Hermiston Planning Commission in November. But the permit was for a location near Big 5 Sporting Goods.

Lee changed the location of the coffee drive-through on June 7 to the lot along East Jennie Avenue.

City Planner Clint Spencer said he has contacted owners within 100 feet of the proposed site. No one has appealed the site location.

A building permit from the city is still needed, according to Spencer.
