Amelia Duarte

April 16, 1929-April 22, 2001

HERMISTON — Amelia Duarte died April 22, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 72.

She was born April 16, 1929, in Mexico to Pasqual Duarte and Eraclia Castro. She lived in Mexico until 1990 when she moved to Hermiston. She was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. She enjoyed cooking, flowers and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Pedro Cortez of Hermiston; sons, Rafael Cortez of Hermiston, Eusebio Cortez of Stanfield and Lupe Cortez of Irrigon; daughters, Estela and Concha Cortez, both of Mexico, and Sara Cortez of Curry, Idaho; and 26 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Recitation of the Rosary was held Wednesday, April 25, at Burns Mortuary Chapel of Hermiston. Burial will be in Heujuquilla, Jalisco, Mexico.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
