Dickie D. "Dick" Dixson

June 1, 1946-May 17, 2003

HERMISTON — Dickie D. "Dick" Dixson died Saturday, May 17, at his home in Hermiston at the age of 56.

He was born on June 1, 1946, in Denver, Colo., to Jake and Marjorie Fresh Deterts. He was raised and attended school in Dillon, Colo.

He joined the United States Army and served his country. He then operated a trucking business for a short time before going to work in powerline construction. He worked as a heavy equipment operator under IBEW Local 125 in Portland for over 30 years.

Dick married his wife, Jo, on Sept. 15, 1992, in Phoenix, Ore. He retired last year due to failing health.

He enjoyed traveling, working and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Dixson of Hermiston; son, Dick Bristol of North Carolina; daughters, Dina Cain of North Carolina, Piper Dixson of Nevada; Lynsey Dixson of Alaska and Bethany Rosa of Montana; brother, Dan Deterts of Colorado; sister, Debbie Kernan of Colorado and nine grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

At his request, no service will be held. Those who wish may make contributions in Dick's memory to Vange John Memorial Hospice at 645 W. Orchard Ave., Hermiston, 97838.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
