Before the regular meeting, the district presented former Deputy Superintendent Mark Mulvihill a plaque of appreciation for his 11 years of service to the school district.

Mulvihill began as superintendent of the Umatilla-Morrow Education Service District July 1.

"You have been a mentor, a sounding board and a voice of reason sometimes," Tricia Baker, Armand Larive Middle School principal, said, making the presentation.

Mulvihill said people have told him he will be missed.

"It's not like I'm going too far," he said. "It's nice feeling like you're making a difference."
