Diesel spilled in

Pilot Center crash

A tanker collision resulted in the spill of about 100 gallons of diesel fuel Wednesday morning at the Stanfield Pilot Travel Center.

Hermiston assistant fire chief Scott Stanton said one truck backed into another, creating a gash in the fuel tank and spilling the diesel.

Hermiston Fire and Emergency Services and the hazardous materials team responded to the incident, which occurred at about 7 a.m.

The spill was contained within an hour of the call. Crews created a containment pool and also placed dirt on the pavement to help soak upĀ
