High-flying entertainment will catapult into town Monday evening as the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce sponsors the American Crown Acrobat Circus.
"We're going to have a troupe on the high wire, the fearless young man on the flying trapeze, what we call the daredevils in the globe of death, which is motorcycles in a big metal sphere entertaining and making circles at over 60 mph," circus marketing manager Frank Osorio said Tuesday. "We'll have a young lady that does a contortionist act, Ingrid on the Spanish web, Bronco, the world's smallest horse. Those are just the highlights of the circus."
The circus will host two performances - one at 5 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. - and each show lasts about 90 minutes. Although the Las Vegas-based circus has visited Hermiston before, this will be the first showing in three years, Osorio said. Tickets for the show are $11, but two children under 12 get in free with each adult purchase.
"Basically what we do is look for specific organizations that need fundraisers. The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this, so some of the proceeds will go to the chamber," he said. "Two kids get in free with each adult because it's family entertainment, and it's geared for families to be together."
