COOS BAY -- A chip truck traveling on U.S. Highway 101 Monday went off a bridge south of Coos Bay, spilling its contents into a nearby waterway.

The truck plunged into Isthmus Slough through a gap in a small bridge on U.S. Highway 101 at Shinglehouse Road, coming to rest between the bridge supports. Much of the truck's load of wood chips spilled into the slough.

Oregon State Police, Coos County sheriff's deputies and personnel from the Millington Rural Fire Protection District responded to the scene, along with a heavy wrecker from Mast Bros. to recover the truck.

No injuries have been reported.
