Pedro Carrera

HERMISTON — Pedro Carrera died May 3, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 69.

He was born on Nov. 8, 1931, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and raised in Mexico where he was a pitcher for his hometown baseball team. He worked as a baker in Mexico for many years.

Pedro was united in marriage to Bertha Rivera on June 29, 1961, in Mexico. They moved to Hermiston in 1990 and have lived here since. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching sports and baking. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston.

Pedro is survived by his wife, Bertha Rivera of Hermiston; sons, Jesus Carrera and Pedro Carrera, both of Hermiston; daughters, Soledad Carrera of Durango, Mexico, and Carmen Carrera, Marina Carrera, Bertha Carrera and Yolanda Carrera, all of Hermiston; brother, Manuel Carrera of Chihuahua, Mexico; sister, Teresa Carrera of Chihuahua, Mexico; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and two brothers, Roberto and Luis.

Recititation of the Rosary was held Sunday, May 6, at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 7, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial followed at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
