In most election years, secretary of state falls "down" on the statewide ballot in Oregon. There's usually a governor's race and/or a U.S. Senate race ahead of the secretary's spot.

That's not the case this year, and it's one reason Bend surgeon Knute Buehler likes his chances in the race against incumbent Kate Brown. Buehler believes there will be more attention than usual on the state secretary's race, which means he'll be able to get his message out to a wider audience.
