Brenda Ilene (May) Bennett

JAY, Okla. — Brenda Ilene (May) Bennett, 53, died at her home in Jay, Okla., on July 5, to an unknown cause.

Ilene was born in Maysville, Ark., on Jan. 8, 1948, to H. Atwell and Helen J. May. She spent her first six years in the Yeargain community in Oklahoma and in 1954 the family moved to Eugene. That fall the family moved to Hermiston. She attended the Hermiston schools for 12 years.

After her parentsÂ’ deaths, Ms. Bennett and her son, Bill, then 15, moved to Jay, Okla., to be near her sisters.

Surviving Ms. Bennett are her sons, Kenneth A. Daugherty and Kevin R. Daugherty, both of West Linn, and Frank William (Bill) Bennett, presently of Hermiston; sisters Lafena Siefert and Dolores G.C. Wilson, both of Jay, Okla.; one brother, James Atwell May of Hermiston; three grandchildren of West Linn; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Atwell May and Helen Jewel May; and nephew, James Arrik Wilson.

Turner Funeral Home of Jay, Okla., is in charge of the arrangements. Disposition is by cremation. Her ashes will be returned to Oregon where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
