About 150 children ages 3-12 participated in the Sunset Park Vacation Bible School this week, a bilingual joint effort between five area churches. Children could participate in games, activities and Bible studies as well as receive lunch every day. This is the third year for the program, which is focused on the entire Sunset neighborhood.

“The first year, the neighborhood was skeptical. They didn’t know what it was about. Now we go around and they say, ‘We’ve been waiting for you,’” Terry Haight, of Hermiston Assembly of God, said. “It really is a community event. It’s not building up one church, it’s building up a community.” The churches involved are Hermiston Assembly of God, Hermiston Christian Center, Faith Hope and Love Church (Templo de Fe, Esperanza y Amor), Hermiston Foursquare Church and the Hermiston Cowboy Church.
