C.J. McMichael, a member of American Legion Post 37 of Hermiston, was recently presented with a 65-years continuous membership certificate by Post Commander Bob Daniel.

McMichael enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served with the Army Engineers. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, and Camp Maxey, Texas. His military duties also took him through England, France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Private First Class. Years later, while employed at Umatilla Army Depot as a civilian employee, McMichael was sent to Vietnam to assist troops with documentation.
