By The Hermiston Herald

An Arlington, Wash., man was killed Tuesday in a one-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 84 about 10 miles west of Boardman.

Oregon State Police have positively identify an adult male driver as Aland Ray Obermiller, 38.

The accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday when Obermiller's 1989 Volkswagen Jetta crashed on the shoulder of I-84 near milepost 154.

An Oregon State Police (OSP) preliminary investigation indicates the victim was westbound when his car drifted onto the highway shoulder, clipped a fog marker and then continued about 200 feet. The car struck a rock wall and overturned onto its top. The victim was using only a shoulder harness and was not using the lap safety restraint belt.

OSP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

OSP was assisted by Morrow County Sheriff's Office, Boardman Fire & Ambulance, and ODOT.
