UMATILLA COUNTY — Umatilla County announced another 11 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, passing Tuesday's report of eight new cases for the largest single-day increase since the county began tracking the virus on March 2.

Thursday's report also brings the county total to 56 cases, and stated that eight of the individuals were close contacts of a previously confirmed case, and all 11 individuals are currently self-isolating at home.

Two people who have tested positive are currently hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported in the county.

According to the Umatilla County Public Health Department's website, 677 residents have tested negative for COVID-19 out of 733 total tests that have been conducted.
