Milton A. “Milt” Barron was born on March 2, 1929, in Dansville, New York, to parents Arthur Isaac and Mildred Somers Barron. He died on March 8, 2018, at his home in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 89 years.

Milt was raised on Maple Grove Farm near Nunda, New York. He graduated from Nunda High School in 1948 and served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1952.

Milt moved west and worked on the construction of Brownlee Dam where he met Shirley Marie Blank. They were united in marriage on August 17, 1957, in Reno, Nevada. Milt worked for Roger’s Construction building freeway from California to Idaho, including the construction of Interstate 84. They settled in Hermiston, Oregon, in 1965 and built their home in 1968. In 1980 they founded Bare-Wite Construction; their family operated the paving and excavating business until retiring in 2001.

Milt was an avid hunter and reader who enjoyed fishing, farming, his farm animals, riding his ATV and, above all, cherished time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Keith (Teresa) Howard of Florida, Gregory (Carma) Barron of Irrigon, Kathleen (Mark) Wilkerson of Pendleton, Tami (Mark) Watson of Umatilla, Joan (Tim) Reese of Ritter, Kipp Barron of Umatilla, Anita (David) Baumgart of Irrigon, and Jason (Mindy) Barron of Hermiston; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister Alida (Bob) LaDelfa, Mt. Morris, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Milt was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Marie Barron; his parents; his parents-in-law; daughter-in-law Kimberly Barron; grandson Matthew Jason Barron; and sisters Mary, Athrena and Evelyn.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel, Hermiston, Oregon. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Umatilla, Oregon.
