Area schools, cities, churches, businesses and other organizations all had a hand in helping honor local veterans for the Veterans Day holiday last week. In Hermiston, the Greater Hermiston Area Chamber of Commerce drew in hundreds of veterans and family members for a special breakfast and program on Friday. Echo veterans were honored on Thursday with a parade made up of Echo School students dressed as veterans from various branches of the military. New Hope Church in Umatilla provided a home for the Girl Scouts’ annual veterans dinner on Friday night. Schools also held assemblies, and many businesses offered special discounts to current and former service members. Pictured above are a few highlights from celebrations.
